Emergency Roof Repair in Miami is available through Hialeah Roof Repair. But in the event, we can't get to you immediately here are a few things to know. After a big storm event like a Tropical Storm or hurricane, it's important to take stock in what damage has been done to your home. First and foremost stay indoors where it is safe and warm while the storm is raging. Only attempt to leave your home once the storm has truly passed and subsided. Always air on the side of caution. There are a few steps to take in the immediate moments after the storm that can really make a difference between major and minor repair necessities. First, take a good look around your home's interior perimeter to make sure no water has seeped in through the ceiling, windows or doors. Check the walls and floorboards, for bubbling, discoloration and wetness. Paying close attention to door jams, ceiling joints and where walls meet the floor. If your first floor meets the test, go ahead and check the 2nd and so on up to and including the attic.
If there are no open spots where there is light showing, have a good look around with a bright flashlight. Any water dripping from beams? Any discolorations or darkening of the wood? Is the insulation intact? Is the insulation dry and not at all discolored. If everything is clean and dry you can move on to the outer perimeter. Once you move to the outside, doing the outer perimeter check, bring someone along. The fury of storms is unpredictable. You have no idea how loose the branches of a tree are or what the lingering wind can cause to fall. Again air on the side of caution. Don't go it alone. Have a walk around the perimeter of your home and outbuildings. Any branches or debris compromising the roofs? Any obvious damage? Shingles ripped off, tiles broken? Anything like fascia missing or boards broken? Did you have an old antenna on the roof that is now gone or tipped over? How about Turbine fans? If you feel confident that it looks intact, grab a friend and a ladder and climb up to the roof and take a closer look. (While we prefer that you leave this step to a professional staying on the ladder and having a look can be a safe way to know what you're in for) *We do not recommend you take a walk on your roof. Leave that to the professionals. Hialeah Roof Repair offers FREE roof Inspections and after a storm we would be glad to come out and make sure you are under a stable roof If while you are looking at the roof you see a very evident compromise to your roof, Tarping for immediate measure is best. Even though we think we can be there in a timely fashion depending on the strength of the storm it may be a day or two before we can get there. Your roof, if left open to the elements, can experience more damage due to mold, returning rain, rodent and insects. Tarping is a good recourse for the short term. Take your tarp apply to the roof section compromised and secure by nailing it at the top and bottom with 2x2.
